The Tennessee Chamber of Commerce & Industry today released its 2026 Legislative Results Report, highlighting the organization’s advocacy efforts during the 114th General Assembly and key policy victories that strengthened Tennessee’s business climate and protected employers from costly new mandates, taxes, and regulations.
“The 2026 legislative session demonstrated what can be accomplished when Tennessee’s business community works together with policymakers to advance solutions that support economic growth and opportunity,” said Josh Brown, President and CEO of the Tennessee Chamber. “These results reflect the strength of our members’ engagement and Tennessee’s continued commitment to being one of the best places in the country to do business.”
The report highlights more than $1.5 billion in estimated return on investment for Tennessee businesses through successful advocacy efforts, including:
- $500 million in potential costs avoided by defeating efforts to increase noneconomic damage caps
- $400 million+ in annual costs avoided through defeat of an Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) mandate
- $150 million+ in annual savings from defeating a proposed advertising tax
- $100 million+ in projected litigation savings through third-party litigation financing reform
- $10 million secured for innovative childcare pilot programs supporting workforce participation
“This report reflects the impact of strong, consistent advocacy on behalf of Tennessee employers,” said RJ Gibson, Director of Government Affairs & Advocacy for the Tennessee Chamber. “From advancing key reforms to defeating costly proposals, our focus remained on protecting Tennessee’s competitive business climate and supporting long-term economic growth.”
Among the Chamber’s most significant achievements were the passage of third-party litigation financing reform and long-awaited solid waste planning reforms, both designed to improve transparency, strengthen infrastructure planning, and support Tennessee’s long-term economic competitiveness.
In addition to highlighting key policy victories, the 2026 Legislative Results Report recognizes the Tennessee Chamber’s 2026 Champions of Commerce for their leadership in advancing pro-business legislation and includes the Chamber’s annual Legislative Scorecard, which tracks lawmakers’ votes on key business issues.
